Look at the last five people you have recruited.

What have they done? Anything?

Are they working diligently?

Do they have a philosophy of working hard or hardly working?

Do they give a good effort or a bad excuse?

You need to start looking for people who have the same focus, desires and philosophy as you:

Why do you think the attrition and drop out rate for downlines is so high industry-wide?

Give your cold prospect room to breathe, and let a rapport start to develop a little. If the prospect is cold to the idea, give it some time. Hold more conversations. The desire to help may be there, but give it time to grow and be revealed. A lot of times, it won’t happen immediately, due to the intial lack of any interest on the prospects part, or bad experiences with others.

Wait till the second conversation to bring up your desire to seek them for your business, or who they might know.

This is only professional, and you are giving the relationship time to solidify and then mature into a real possible friendship.

4) “Maybe there is a way we could help each other.”

Let’s take a look at these powerful opening phrases:

1) “I am a professional in the Community.”

This states an important fact: You are one of them.

And this will create the start of a CONNECTION right off the bat, and also establish who you are to the Cold prospect, from one professional to another. Network Marketing is a profession, and you need to start treating it like one, if you are not.

2) “I am introducing myself.”

This sets up an important paradigm. You are taking the initiative to introduce and meet people in the community, and you are a take charge type of person. And it shows you really want to meet folks, as well it shows Leadership.

3) “I love networking with other professionals.”

This states one thing: You value other professionals as a resource. And you also show that you appreciate the fact that networking does work in the business world And also that as a resource, a professional has value to you and your Network Marketing business, and vice versa.

4) “Maybe there is a way we could help each other.”

This establishes that you are willing to Increase and Improve your prospects business and life. And also you do care about helping people, plus you are showing Potential value right upfront.

5) “Would you be open for coffee sometime?”

This is the proactive part of it, and it simply gives them a chance to engage the budding relationship,or not. Most professionals do have an interest in increasing their business, so you will get some interest, and some time with many of them.

But if they say they are not interested?

Be a professional, and thank them for their time and wish them well. And see if you can get a card for a thank you note to send them.

“May I at least have a card in case I run across someone who would want your services?”

Understand that you as a network marketer should be out weekly meeting folks who may need your products and looking for you. But most don’t do that as they stay tied to one or two ways to prospect.

MLM Recruiting – The 4 Prospect Personality Types in MLM

You need to understand a little about each. After having recruited personally over 350 people, and talked to over 10,000 folks, you learn a few things. Hope this helps.
Here are the 4 kinds of people you will run into when Retailing and Recruiting in Network marketing.:

1) The Complainers. (50%)

There is roughly about 50% of the population that falls into this category. And they are the ones that will be the most negative. The language of the complainer is simple: It is negative.

And they use words like: “Never. Impossible”. “Scam”. “Rip Off.” “Can’t”. “Broke”. “No way.” “Won’t”. “Used to be.” “No Use.” “Won’t ever happen.” “Fool.” “Can’t.” “Won’t.” “Lose.”

You get the idea.

And these folks are the ones that will find something wrong with just about everything, including what you are showing them.

“Oh come on! Don’t tell me you fell for that scam about anti aging- weight loss- energy gain- pie in the sky stuff! You are so easily deceived!”

And they will always give you reasons why the products will not work, the business will not work, the comp plan will not work, the distributors won’t work. And it goes on and on. Pray for them and see if they at least will try the product.

2) “People Who Think they Think”. (30%)

These are the mental robots of the world. They think they are thinking , but actually, everybody else is doing their thinking for them. Whatever “the crowd” is thinking, or believing, the “think they thinkers” are right in the middle of it, and that is dominating their life.

“OH! I saw on TV where these kind of products will kill you! There was 10 people who died of Vitamin C pneumonia just last week! That stuff will make you sicker than a dog, or worse!! I know what I am talking about!”

“I heard about this kind of a business. Most people end up in jail, and I know someone who knows someone that got out just in the nick of time before the US Army invaded the company’s office with a full batallion of army tanks and paratroopers. They went straight into that big office. Actually it was a trailer in the desert so no one could find them! Is your company hiding too?”

They simply go along with what is called “Group Think”, and as you guessed it: Whatever the group is saying, so they parrot. And if you run into these type of people, understand that it is more important for them to be a part of the group and how they think, then to be exposed to something that could change their life!

3) “The Thinkers”. (15%)

These folks actually think for themselves, and they are quite independent. But the problem is:

The think. And they Think. And they think. And they Think. And they think.

And when you follow up with them, “Oh, I am still thinking about it”

And they think. And think. And think some more.

Many times, thinkers become parlayzed, because they THINK they will make a mistake, and then they THINK what will happen then.

Many are worriers because of what they are thinking, and there thoughts create the worry!

Get referrals. And give them 21 days to think about it, and if they are still thinking, then say ‘I am glad you are taking this so seriously. By the way, who do you know that would love to look younger-lose weight-like soft skin-loves the internet-earn an extra 500.00 a month?”

DON’T LET THE THINKERS THINK YOU RIGHT OUT OF THIS BUSINESS!

4) “The Doers”. (5%)

Simply, they are too busy doing to be slowed down with complaints, Group Think, and worrying over making a mistake.

They many times go- “Ready-FIRE-Aim!” They want to GET SOMETHING GOING!

Doers are simply focused on:

Creating. Building. Moving. Recruiting. Sharing. Talking. Meeting. Prospecting. Training. Learning. Increasing. Enlarging. Helping. leading. Attending.

Which one are you? You need to be a DOER!

A certain distributor asked a person to be on a recruiting call with her, because she needed someone to be on with her. “Just show up, and I will have my guest! Won’t try to sell you anything, but I need a guest on the call.” Guess what?

They ended up signing up! Here is what she said:

“Hey, I need a favor. I gotta have someone on a conference call monday night so I will not look bad. Could you please help me for 10 minutes and you don’t have to say anything. They won’t try to sell you anything, just be my guest? It would really help me out!”

THAT is a DOER! Your goal on every recruiting call should be to BLOW OUT THE LINES!

In 2006, you will need to be honest with yourself, and do what we always did. We called it a “Success Audit.” This is a New Years exercise that proved to be very valuable in our MLM Network Marketing business.

When you are building a home based business, you need to understand where you were in 2005, and where you are going in 2006.

We developed some Success questions that helped keep our focus where it needed to be, and continue our growth and development of our MLM business and ourselves.

Here are the questions, and I would encourage you to look at them, and answer them honestly. These may reveal to you what you need to work on in 2006, and what to repeat as that worked well last year.

1) What was your greatest strength in 2005 in your MLM business? Why?

This could be your greatest skill, what you found most effective. It could be talking to people, leadership, hosting events, doing conference calls, etc. What in your opinion was the strongest part of your network marketing business in 2006?

2) What was your greatest weakness in 2005 in your Network marketing business? Why?

This could be the one thing that did not work so well, and you have to work on it. What do you feel was the biggest weakness in your business last year? Identify this, and then go to work on improving it. You will be glad you did.

3) What one skill set did you improve the most in 2005?

This is what you truly worked on and became better at in 2005. It may be leadership, training, recruiting, doing presentations, or many other things. It could also be being consistent, being disciplined, etc. This is worth celebrating, as you moved forward in personal development and Success in 2005.

4) In 2006, what is the one thing you are going to focus on and improve about your MLM home based business?

This is your “Success Priority.”

This is the ONE THING in 2006 that will improve and enlarge your network Marketing business more than anything. What is the NUMBER ONE priority that MUST be improved in your business? More downline activity? Better leadership? Better Communication? Better Training? More people talked to on a daily basis? The list could be long, but for you, it is only one thing. What would that be?

Think…what would that one thing be?

5) What is the ONE THING that you are going to improve and enlarge about yourself in 2006?

This is a BIGGIE! You need to set Personal Development goals for 2006, and you must identify the one goal for self development that you need to work on. It could be simply that you will take 15 minutes a day and read or listen to Success materials that will build you and help enlarge who you are on the inside. We all need to do that! It could be getting a planner and keeping yourself organized and motivated. It could simply to talk to more successful people in 2006 and learn from them.

6) Did you and your group talk to enough people in 2005? Did you hit your goal as far as new contacts?

Better yet, did you set a goal for new contacts? You need to set a daily goal for new contacts for everyone, and it should be a MINIMUM of 2 new contacts a day. This will give you at least a flow of new people that are looking at your products or MLM business. Your New Contacts goal is KEY to new growth in 2006.

7) What is your Volume Increase Goal for 2006?

This is a MUST. If you do not have a growth goal for volume, personal and team, then how can you hit it? You need to set a goal for at least 8% growth a month. If you do, you will double your network marketing business in 2006! Will that excite you? We did that for 7 years in a row! It was planned, and executed with discipline and focus.

There are three Major areas that we all need to focus on in 2006 for better and bigger results in 2006:

INPUT.

What goes into your mind on a daily basis, comes out into your life on an hourly basis. What kind of INPUT will be dominating your mind and thinking in 2006? What will be influencing it? Who will be influencing it? Why will you allow that to happen in your MLM Home Based business?

OUTPUT.

What is going to determine your OUTPUT this year? Is it going to be what dominated it last year, or is it going to be different actions and thinking? Is it going to be bigger goals and targets, or are you going to fly by the seat of your pants as many network marketers do? Planned activity accelerates Success. Will you allow that for 2006?

NO PUT.

What are you going to do with the NO’s that you get in 2006 and where are you going to out them? In your heart, or in the garbage? Most people are affected by them, and they become an anchor on the spirit and emotions. You need to put the No’s where they belong- in the delete files in your mind.

This is the group that “gets it”.

They understand that in order to create momentum, you must DRIVE the business, not just build it. They are not focused on products, nor process, but Driving POWER. The Power that emerges from a clear vision of the future and a clear knowing of where you are going and how you are going to get there.

And they focus on recruiting builders and other drivers.

Retailing and Building are ACTION Focused.

Drivers are MIND set focused.

And go after the picture they hold in their mind of what they want out of life, and will not be denied in any way, shape or form. They truly have THE DRIVE TO SUCCEED and help others to Succeed as well in life.

b) “Build people, not just a business.”

c) “Leadership…and it shows in all they do.”

Drivers are also focused on WEALTH creation, not just paycheck.

That is what LOA is in the network marketing arena. It can be the most costly thing you ever have seen as far as a potential future, and yet, people seem to ignore the cost of it.

That people would let this occur and without a single thought or guilt about it. And when the cost of it comes due, all they due is have a pity party.

” Woe is me. I am so unlucky. Look what this MLM business has done to me.”

Network marketing will only reflect back to you what you have done for it. It doesn’t do anything to you. It only gives back what you have put in. Nothing more, nothing less.

You have joined a Network Marketing Company, and you are excited and want to tell the world, but then — something happens.

REALITY.

You must go out and make calls and talk to people, do presentations, follow up, ask for the order, and do three ways as well as train your new people, so you say:

“WAIT A MINUTE! Is there not another way? There HAS TO BE!”

The most broke and poorest distributor in MLM is the “Permanent Student” who learns all the right things and what to do and say, but never acts on it or engages it.

And they are the ones who scream the loudest that MLM is a scam and it doesn’t work.

No. They are wrong.

They are only scamming themselves to think that knowledge will make them successful in any enterprise, let alone Network Marketing or a Home Business.

Knowledge will not make you rich–ever. It is how you APPLY the knowledge EFFECTIVELY and CONSISTENTLY that creates wealth in Network Marketing and in Life.

Ok, we understand that LOA is something that is VERY expensive to you and your family.

But what are the true costs of it? If you really think about it, and ponder it, what will it really cost you and your family for your lack of action in MLM?

There is an exercise I have done all over the world and back, and the impact is amazing at what it does. And it really is a COLD DOSE of reality of what your LOA does cost you. And this exercise is something that is a good downline building tool and can be used in seminars and meetings.

It’s called:

“The Top 10 Things I will Never have in My Life due to MY Lack of Action”.

OUCH! That hurts, doesn’t it? If you really think about it, it really does create a fear of loss and a big one sometimes.

And the greatest cost, is the cost to your self image, and self esteem. Not taking action will only validate and hurt how you see yourself, and feel about yourself. It will continue to paint a paralyzed picture in your mind, over and over on a subconcious level, which will impact every area of your life. And it will only help empower the fear that has stopped the action, as well as the habits that are the fruit of it.

The True Cost of LOA in MLM actually is more INTERNAL than external, but either way, inaction costs you dearly. One costs you a future and destiny of Success, and the other costs you feeling good about who you are, and all the things that you could be accomplishing. Both are high costs, for a low desire to take action and Succeed.
